Because the thin outer wall of the cup can be heated quickly, leaving the inside and outside temperature is equal to the expansion and thus uniform; however, a thickness of the outer wall of the cup could not immediately be heated, the temperature difference between the inner and outer walls of the big, uneven expansion and thus, resulting in rupture. However, not only thin cup thin side wall, bottom of the cup must be thin.
