1. Applications of Screen Printing in Glassware Production
Screen printing is commonly used to print logos or single-color designs on the surface of glassware. This method is preferred for its precision and clarity, making it ideal for branding and decorative purposes.
2. Advantages of Screen Printing over Decal Application
- No Blurred Edges: Screen printing produces sharp and clear edges, ensuring the design looks professional and high-quality.
- No Need for Baking: Unlike decal application, screen printing does not require the glassware to be baked in a kiln. Baking can sometimes cause the colors to fade, leading to deviations from the original design.
3. Suitable Surfaces for Screen Printing
Due to the structure of screen printing machines, it is best applied on surfaces that, when laid flat, form a rectangular shape.
However, the applicability decreases in the following scenarios:
- Curved Surfaces: Screen printing is less effective on curved surfaces.
- Fan-shaped Surfaces: Surfaces that lay flat into a fan shape can pose challenges for screen printing.
If the curvature is gentle, screen printing may still be possible. It is recommended to create a sample to assess the final appearance.
Complex Colors: Screen printing can only apply one color at a time, and each application requires manual alignment. Therefore, designs with complex colors might lead to misalignment between color blocks, deviating from the intended design.
